Parent Verdict
Horror โ ages 10+ recommended
Doors is intentionally scary with real jump scares, darkness, and horror entity chasing mechanics. Not recommended for children under 8-10 or those sensitive to horror.
Doors is one of Roblox's most popular horror games and the one most likely to genuinely frighten children. With over 2 billion visits, it's a mainstream game โ but it's also legitimately designed to scare you. Here's what parents need to know.
What Is Doors?
Doors is a survival horror game where players navigate through 100 numbered hotel rooms, each containing different horror "entities" โ monsters that attack in different ways. The most iconic is Rush, which requires players to hide in wardrobes when it charges through a room. The game is dark, atmospheric, and uses jump scares effectively. Think of it as a child-friendly version of a horror escape room.
Safety Assessment
- โHorror content: HIGH โ this is an actual horror game designed to frighten; jump scares are frequent and effective
- โContent risk: MEDIUM โ dark themes, monster chasing, atmospheric horror
- โChat risk: LOW โ cooperative play with limited chat
- โSpending risk: LOW โ cosmetic items only
- โNightmare risk: MEDIUM-HIGH for younger or sensitive children
How Scary Is Doors Really?
Genuinely scary for its target age group. Parents who try it themselves are often surprised. The darkness, the sudden loud audio cues, and the chasing mechanics create real tension. For children who already watch Goosebumps or mild horror content and enjoy being scared, this is right in their zone. For children who startle easily, don't like dark games, or have had nightmares from scary content before โ skip it or wait until they're older.
Recommended Age
Ages 10-11+ for most children. Mature 9-year-olds who already enjoy horror content may be fine. Under 8, not recommended.
