Updated May 2026 ยท 9 steps ยท ~9 minutes
Full Roblox parental controls setup for Windows 10 and 11, plus Microsoft Family Safety for complete coverage.
Create Your Parent Roblox Account
If you don't have a Roblox account, go to roblox.com and sign up with your own email. Use your real date of birth โ Roblox requires this to verify you're a parent.
Open Roblox on the PC
On the PC your child uses, open the Roblox app or visit roblox.com in the browser while logged into your child's account. Click the gear/settings icon at the top right of the screen.
Link Your Parent Account
In Settings, click Privacy and then scroll to find Parental Controls. Click "Link Parent Account" and enter your parent account email. You'll receive a confirmation email โ click the link in that email to complete the connection.
Verify Your Identity
Roblox requires identity verification to enable full parental controls. You'll be prompted to verify via credit/debit card ($0 charge โ for age verification only) or a government ID. This is a one-time process.
Configure Content & Chat from Your Own Account
Now log into your parent Roblox account on your own device (phone or PC). Go to Settings > Parental Controls > select your child's account. Set: Content Maturity (Minimal for 5-8, Mild for 9-12), Chat settings (Friends Only or Off for under-13), and Friend request permissions.
Set Screen Time & Spending Limits in Roblox
Still in your parent Parental Controls, set a daily screen time limit and a monthly spending cap. Enable purchase notifications so you get an alert any time Robux is spent.
Set Up Microsoft Family Safety (Windows)
On the PC, open Settings > Accounts > Family & Other Users. Add your child's Microsoft account as a Family member. Then go to family.microsoft.com from your own device to set: daily screen time limits by app, website filters, spending limits for the Microsoft Store, and weekly activity reports.
Set Browser Controls
On the child's PC, open Microsoft Edge or Chrome. In Microsoft Edge: go to family.microsoft.com and enable Web Filtering. In Chrome: use the Google Family Link supervised account to filter websites. Block access to any "free Robux" sites specifically.
Move Roblox to a Common Area
A non-technical but effective step: keep the PC your child uses Roblox on in a shared family space โ living room or kitchen โ rather than their bedroom. Research consistently shows location is one of the most effective safety measures.
