Roblox is available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 โ and PlayStation has its own robust family management system that pairs with Roblox's parental controls for two layers of protection. Here's the complete setup guide.
Step 1: Create a PlayStation Family Account
On your PlayStation (or at playstation.com), go to Settings > Family Management. Create a PlayStation family and add your child as a family member. If they don't have a PlayStation Network account, create one with their age โ child accounts (under 18) automatically get restricted defaults.
Step 2: Configure PlayStation Family Controls
- โMonthly spending limit: Set to $0 or a fixed amount in PlayStation Store
- โCommunication restrictions: Limit to friends only or restrict completely
- โPlay time management: Set daily limits by day of week
- โContent age rating: Set maximum game rating appropriate to age
- โEnable Monthly Activity Reports to see time played per game
Step 3: Link Your Roblox Parent Account
Open Roblox on the PlayStation while logged into your child's account. Go to Settings > Parental Controls > Link Parent Account. Complete the verification process with your Roblox parent account. Once linked, you control Roblox-specific settings (content maturity, chat, Robux spending) from your own device.
Step 4: Set Roblox-Specific Controls
- โContent maturity: Minimal (5-8) or Mild (9-12)
- โChat: Friends Only or Off for younger children
- โRobux spending limit: $0/month recommended
- โFriend requests: Restricted to prevent strangers
PlayStation-Specific Tips
- โThe PlayStation's built-in screen time clock is separate from Roblox's โ set both
- โPlayStation Remote Play means kids can play on phones/tablets โ the controls still apply
- โPlayStation notifications can be sent to your phone when play time limits are reached
Safest way to give Robux: Gift Cards
